Personality: Friendly and outgoing, she loves to talk to everyone she meets. She's even been known to lose battles because she was too busy talking, sometimes to her own opponent. Despite her love of talking, she also loves - and needs - time to be by herself to recharge. She's a very kind person and enjoys helping others, and will do anything she can to help someone, even if she doesn't know them. In battle, she's a bit more firm, but even still, she doesn't like to battle to the point of serious injury.
History: She grew up in Ecruteak City where her parents worked at a Pokemon Center. Young Jaida often was at work with her parents, playing with Pokemon that were healthy enough to play. One day, a trainer brought in a severely injured Rapidash and although Jaida had seen hurt Pokemon before, the sight of the Rapidash made her cry. Her parents helped heal him and while he was still at the Pokemon Center, Jaida grew to love him and decided that she would have a Rapidash of her own someday.
When she was twelve, shortly after receiving a Ponyta, her parents were killed in an accident. She had no other family to take care of her, but a couple in town agreed to take her in - on the condition she got rid of her Pokemon. Jaida threw an absolute fit, not wanting to lose the only thing she had left in the world. The couple quickly changed their mind about adopting her and she was about to be taken to foster care, where she would have lost her Pokemon anyway, but the gym leader of the city, Morty, stepped in and let her stay with him.
For three years, she lived with him and also trained with him and eventually became a pretty good trainer herself. At the age of fifteen, she set out to start challenging the gyms of Johto, but she could never bring herself to challenge Morty, so the Fog Badge remained one of the two Johto badges she had not won, the Rising Badge being the other. She hadn't gotten the Rising Badge due to the fact that Clair was too strong, and was training her Pokemon to be stronger by battling as many people as she could, including Levina.
When she was 19, Morty told her that Dolomite City in the Lareni region was looking for a gym leader and thought she would do well as a gym leader. Although reluctant to leave home, she didn't want to pass up on the opportunity and decided to go see if she could get the job. She simply had to win a tournament against the other applicants, and she managed to do so, earning her very own gym. Because the old gym was so terribly old and run down, it was torn down and Jaida got to design her own gym, and has spent the past four years there.
