Getting Started Empty
PostSubject: Getting Started   Getting Started EmptyMon 28 Mar - 3:50

You can be whatever kind of character you want here, and if you don't like anything listed here, please message an admin and we'll figure something out for you.

These are just the basics...

Trainer - trains any and all Pokemon for battle
Breeder - raises Pokemon and breeds to get the highest quality Pokemon
Specialist - a trainer who specializes in one species or a specific type
Gym Trainer - trains with a gym leader, usually with the same type as the leader, and may battle trainers wishing to challenge the gym leader
Gym Leader - leader of a gym and rewards those that are victorious with a badge as proof, and they usually have a specific type they train or a theme
Team Leader - has a goal and recruits trainers to their cause
Team Member - works under a team leader to try to reach the team's goal
Researcher - discovers things about Pokemon and the world

Trainers, Specialists, and Team Members all start with a single Pokemon. Breeders and researchers start with two. Gym Trainers and Team Leaders have three, and Gym Leaders have four.

To become a team leader or gym leader, post here with what position you want. For team leader, make a general idea of what your villainous (or non-villainous) goal is. For gym leaders, come up with a theme and badge name and post the Pokemon that you want as your starters. To become a gym trainer or team member, message the gym leader or team leader after you've joined, or you can wait until you run into the proper character in-game.

Your position can change during the game, so if you want to switch later, you can. You can join or leave a team, get recruited by a gym leader, switch between trainer and specialist, etc. However, you can not join as a breeder and immediately switch to trainer just so you start out with better Pokemon. To switch, you actually have to play it out.

You can do things that are not in your job description. For example, a breeder can challenge a gym leader and a trainer can breed their Pokemon. So why not just pick whatever gives you the best starting Pokemon? Each "job" gives you different advantages. So if you really want to focus on battling, don't start as a breeder, as they have a weakness in battle. See Character Types for more info on that.

Your Pokemon's attacks will be updated by an admin when they learn something new, so always check on your Pokemon to see if they've learned any new moves!

When your Pokemon is ready to evolve, you'll be sent a message. If no reply is received within a week (unless we know you have not been online), your Pokemon will automatically evolve. If you don't want to be notified and prefer your Pokemon to evolve as soon as they can, just message an admin and your Pokemon will automatically evolve. If your Pokemon is holding an Everstone, you will get a notification that your Pokemon could evolve if it was not holding the Everstone. Once the Everstone is gone, you will then get the normal evolution message. When you get a message, you can reply to it and have your Pokemon evolve immediately or wait for the week to run out. If you don't want your Pokemon to evolve, you must reply to the message and say no evolution.

Okay, that was a lot of typing. So now that you've read all that, you're ready to start. The Character Types thread does have more information if you're really interested, and there's a crappy town map somewhere, but other than that, you're good to go. Go make a character profile and PC Box and then to the RP! Any questions about getting started can be posted here.

I'd like to be the gym leader of Dolomite, if I may. I'd like my theme to be ungulates and the badge will be the Hoof Badge. For my starters, I'd want Ponyta, Tauros, Flaffy and Girafarig. Levels 38, 36, 35, and 34, if that's okay. I'm making a profile now so I hope it's okay I'm applying to be a gym leader before doing that.

That's fine. Gonna message you in a second. Got to get a few more things from you to set up your gym and establish you in the world.
